Graham Baker, from Ego Restaurants, manages a chain of popular restaurants across the UK and has been using the liveRES system for more than two years. In that time he has seen the technology make a dramatic impact on his business.
He said: "I think we have seen a shift in the way our customers behave. We are seeing more traffic to the website and people are demanding the capability to book online.
"Over the past couple of years the barriers to online booking have disappeared. People are using mobile phones and tablets as well as the home or work PC to reserve a table. We need to be convenient and available at times when traditionally we would be busy serving customers in our restaurants. So online booking is now essential.
"I think some of this is because younger people simply feel more comfortable booking online and not actually talking to a person. It's strange but it appears to be a fact. People prefer to text, email or even email rather than actually talk to people.
"This trend suits me as a business operator because it means my staff aren't tied up answering phones.
"Using liveRES has made a huge difference to our trade and means that we are able to be smart about filling tables at our less busy times and managing our business at peak times.
"People know at a glance when they can dine with us and make a decision there and then to commit to a booking. That's great for us and great for our business.
"Initially it took a little time for our staff to get used to using the system but the extra support we got from liveRES means that everyone is now comfortable with it.
"But the bottom line is that it is what our customers want and the extra revenue that we are able to take is a great benefit to the company and therefore by definition the staff.
"We are planning to open our ninth restaurant shortly and I have every confidence that the liveRES system is helping to put us in a position where each of our restaurants can be more profitable than ever before, allowing us to grow ahead of our competitors."
